Which length do I need?
- 1.5–3m: PC to monitor on the same desk
- 5–10m: laptop to a projector or TV across a room
- 15–20m: ceiling projectors and classrooms; VGA is analog, so very long runs can show slight softness
Common questions
Does it carry audio?
No. VGA is video only. Connect sound with a separate 3.5mm audio cable.
3+5 or 3+4?
Both show the same picture on most screens. 3+5 has one more internal wire, which some monitors use to report their supported resolutions automatically.
Will it work with my CCTV DVR?
Yes. Most DVRs and NVRs have a VGA output for a monitor.
