Is this a VGA cable?
No. It looks similar, but it is a 9-pin serial (RS232) connector.
Does it need a driver?
The computer may need a driver for the serial chip. After installing, it appears as a COM port.
My device has a male port too. What do I need?
Use a female-to-female serial cable or gender changer between them.
